Dog Comedy - Angel Dog - Review
Angel Dog aka Cooper Screenshot |
An uplifting drama with sorrow, sincerity, hope and humour...a journey of recovery for Jake Bryant, a man who has to learn to love and live again after he loses everything that matters to him. His inspiration to get off the sofa and go on living comes from somewhere Jake never would have expected: a lovable stray named Cooper. While it is not listed as an actual dog comedy, it does say that it is uplifting, and sometimes when you're in pain, you'd rather have an uplifting distraction rather than side-splitting, stitch-splitting laughter. I love that this movie has a stray dog rescuing a person. Quite often rescue dogs actually resue the person that thinks they are rescuing them!
Dog Comedy - Sox: A Family's Best Friend - Review
Screenshot- Sox a Family's Best Friend |
Sox: A Family's Best Friend stars Aiden Potter and Anton Starkman as two boys newly united into a blended family. They each are having their own personal challenges getting used to being siblings and having a new parent. Enter Sox - a "talking" dog voiced by Steve Snyder who does not move his lips. In the beginning clips, this is a bit off-putting but is explained as being telepathy by Sox to the people he"talks" with. There are the requisite "bad guys" who are trying to capture Sox the dog who talks. One interesting thing I do not recall having seen in Dog comedies at all is the use of black and white versus colour when things are being seen through the eyes of Sox the dog. This was a cute family-friendly movie, that I might like to watch at least one more time.
Lenny the Wonder Dog
A dog implanted with a chip meant to make him incredibly smart is pursued by an evil scientist and his henchmen. posted by Family, there are some scenes that seem intended for the pedophile crowd. There are several dialogues with the dogs that allude to sex. a scene where the male protagonist sees a girl and squirts his drink all over his chest and another scene that would seem to suggest the young boy and girl invest some time together on a couch overnight.
If you enjoy movies with Brechtian style diversions between scenes like ridiculous chase scenes reminiscent of the Monkees from the '60s or cartoon maps to show you where the characters are located between scene changes, you might enjoy the style of this show.
